Antigua and Aqua Volcano La Merced Church One of Antigua's cobblestone streets
Antigua is a laid back town, even though you can't spit without hitting a tourist. The cobblestone streets can make walking a challenge at times, especially after a couple of cervezas (beers). We have already stayed at two different inns, because the first one only had room for us for one night. We had one minor problem on the first day when Dean lost his windbreaker. When the sun went down and the temperatures quickly dropped, he realized that going without a jacket was not going to be an option. At the market the next day, he bought a jacket and, in the process, confirmed that he is a very poor negotiator. There is no shortage of craftworks to purchase here, but we are trying very hard to pass on most of these items and wait until we get away from the main tourist zone. After all, some of these items will be even more interesting if they come with a story other than 'we bought it in a store'.
