| Mar 11, 2006 - First week finished
| We have finished our first week of Spanish language school, and 240 or so verbs later I think it is fair to say that we are both glad to have the week behind us. We learned a lot, but is very hard work. Not only can we speak in complete sentences most of the time, I can now also use past tense. How exciting is that! Of course, there is still a lot of hemming and hawing to get each sentence out, but it is much better than earlier in the week.
John found a weaving school near the city center, so we moved out of the home of the Rodriquez family and into a cheap hotel in the city center. John is also going to switch to a different school that is in the center. I am going to stick with Centro Maya. I really like my teacher, so I will do the 30 minute walk there every day next week to complete the second week of lessons. I expect that we will mostly take it easy this weekend. We have a lot of studying to do and need to catch up on some sleep. Next weekend, we will probably leave Xela and return to being tourists for a while. |
